The Planning Inspector has made the decision to permit the Hamble Quarry.
This is despite the fact that Hampshire County Council refused permission for CEMEX to have this quarry in May 2024. Although they subsequently changed their mind and, in my view, behaved disgracefully in abandoning Hamble by not opposing the planning application at the subsequent Inspectorate hearing.
Like all of you, I am incredibly disappointed with this outcome. From the beginning, I have argued that the quarry is not workable in our community, arguments you have all heard and made many times over these past few years.
Many of you will be asking what's next. Only the High Court can quash this decision, and I will be discussing the possibility of this action with Hamble Parish Council, Hamble Peninsular Residents Group, and other parties to look at whether such a challenge is feasible.
While this is not the outcome we were seeking, it is not the end of the fight.
