Land sale to the north of Fareham Community Hospital
I previously wrote to the Hampshire and Isle of Wight ICB raising my concerns to this land being sold, reiterating that this land should be retained to help manage the primary care needs of the increasing population in the constituency. Furthermore, I received a response advising that the land sale had been paused. I was grateful for this so that I could push for the site to be protected for future health service expansion.
More recently however, I attended a further meeting with the HIOWICB where I was informed that the sale of the land was now progressing and that contracts had been exchanged.
HOWEVER, while I’m disappointed that this process seemed to have been restarted, the HIOWICB have confirmed that after my intervention, it was recognised that part of the land would need to be retained to provide further primary care facilities for constituents in the future and I am pleased to say this has been achieved. A sizeable site has been protected for future expansions of the hospital or the local GP surgery, the local health team have also confirmed that they are actively looking at what other primary care services can be provided on the site following my request for expanded services.
